Tracy Womack is the owner of TraSea's Glassworks and an artist with thirty years of experience in working with glass. The type of work that Tracy does is called flamework or lampwork because the glass is heated and sculpted in a torch flame. Each piece is hand formed from a solid rod of glass which is heated
in the flame until molten and shaped into the desired form. For most of her work she makes
her own colored rods from glass powders and frits - lending to a broad
palette and her exquisite use of color."When I discovered the use of powders and frits I began 'painting' with glass." Tracy has made many forms over the years and her love of the ocean shows in her marine life which are expertly rendered. She studied Fine Art at the University of Arkansas, specifically painting, and went on to learn the art of flameworking in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Tracy resided in Germany for four years where she further refined her style. Although she has spent most of her life by the sea, she is currently residing in Asheville, North Carolina where she works from her home studio. Her work is available in several fine galleries throughout the country as well as at fine art shows in the southeast.
"After 30 years of working with molten glass I find I never tire of it.. I think because it is such an alive medium and such a difficult craft, it continues to challenge my skills." - Tracy WomackThank you for your interest in TraSea's Glassworks.
